Fourth City Sisters walks with the Bar:PM Float and throws beads out to the crowd. This is our first parade manifested as Sisters and the experience of walking through the crowd of so many people out celebrating their Pride for being part of the LGBTQIA+ Community was more than we can put into words. If there was anything that could be said it would be "The smiles and joy and Pride I see in these faces are exactly why we do what we do. I can't imagine being anywhere or doing anything else."
After the parade we all collapsed on the grass, ate ice cream and then rode off to Bar PM to end the night at our home bar. A Special thanks Bar:PM and Rudis Men's Leather Society for allowing us to join them in the parade, and to City of Fountains Sisters for coming out to support!
FCS put together (last minute mind you) a booth for the Tower Grove Pride in St. Louis to raise awareness for the House and to spread so good ole' fashion Joy. We handed out Fliers, house buttons, beaded necklases in St. Louis colors, and balloon animals for the kids (or anyone who wanted a balloon sword fight~). We even had a small photo booth with fun props for anyone who wanted to take some pictures with a sister or their friends. Together Sister Ellawhore Von Tramp, Sister Salmonella Fishgerald, Sister Glittorious, Guard Annal Ease, and Guard Mame O. Reese put together an amazing booth and made a decent splash in the community, we even met some great prospects for the house :D
As a fun note, we may of trapped Sister Sam in the tent frame while we were closing down... A Sister in captivity is not a happy Sister. But we all had fun, so in the end it works out. Also if you look close, there are streamers all over the top of the tent... We may have gotten carried away with the steamers... there may have been a streamer fight... Let's be honest, something like this was bound to happen.
We did have a a guest house join us, after we crashed their Pride in Kansas City, the City of Fountains Sisters joined us at the grove! They look fabulous, don't they? Thank you so much Sister Leia Organza, Sister Burma Titzcold, Sister Glamarama ding dong and Guard Phil LaJoque-Strapp for coming out and joining us, you are all amazing and we love having you!
Today the FCS went out to pay their respects to Peyton, former bartender at Bastille who was killed outside of the bar where many knew and loved him. He was known for his warmth and smile. We offered comfort and a shoulder for those who deeply felt the loss of warmth from Peyton's smile. At the end of the service all attending walked around the Soulard area to protest violence.
